Climapod Greenhouse VS 60 to 100 MPH Windstorm
ClimaPod Virtue at SpaceX Starbase in TX. As featured on SpaceX video (second 0:59).
We are proud to supply SpaceX with multiple ClimaPod Greenhouses. SpaceX Climapod customer review.
This model (Virtue Black 9×14) was about $4,000. It’s from ClimaPod, based out of Issaquah, local for us (which was a plus). We researched other greenhouses around the same size and price range and they all seemed VERY low quality. We read through the Climapod website, and through their reviews. There are also reviews/videos on YouTube. We then took a field trip to view a sample greenhouse in person. The sample was extremely sturdy and the employee we met with was super knowledgeable.
We purchased from website (the website has lots of sales for seasons/holidays so keep an eye out!) then scheduled a pick up (delivery available at extra cost).
With 3 people, we started construction Saturday and almost done end of day Sunday. Installation is pretty tedious and frustrating at points but definitely manageable. Lots of patience needed 😅.
Our greenhouse isn’t 100% complete yet, but so far it is 💯💪 strong!!!!
Looks beautiful! We are very pleased! 🥳
WOW. Ice is in my pond and my Clima Pod is telling me it’s time to plant. I only have one vent engaged as there are 5 including the lower slat/window. It is also temp activated. I have had my pod for 7 years and the only complaint I have is that the cat can still open the door with one paw while other green houses by now would have been warped up and inundated with green slime and broken glass. I installed one shelf this year for my strawberries to grow in the roof gutter (see pic). The other shelf is stowed away worry free because all parts are aluminum with stainless steel fasteners. The accessories / refitting options are endless and applicable to any of my growing needs. And I have’nt even washed this pod once. One thing about quality is you get what you pay for and it’s nice to only pay once for a product. This pod, I mounted on 2 x 8 treated lumber and it still holds true to plumb after all these years even on sandy ground and horrible Sultan Wa. Wind storms. I cant thank Clima Pod enough for keeping quality a priority and they still answer their phone after all these years and even remember my purchase. I own a company and could learn alot from them. Thanks again and many years to come.
Was very pleased from start to finish
Was very pleased from start to finish, fast shipping, product was accurately described, no complaints excited to use it. Thanks Climapod, one last thing I read reviews on the assembly part, I found it to be easy to assemble with adequate instructions, the 2 gable ends easy the center structure was the same process over and over again till u got to the other gable, just common sense and realizing your not going to put up in 2 hours will make they process realistic. super happy.
Very sturdy very beautiful greenhouse. We got the passion 9 by 14 and I’m glad I went this large for my large garden for a family of 5. I love the automatic ventilation system, and the sturdy shelving for all my starts. Has held up perfectly well through several seasons, one piece blew out during a terrible windstorm and we were able to get it back in (my fault for leaving doors open and deciding not to caulk everything after assembling – because it looks so beautiful without the caulking). Holds inches of snow on top no problem. Must be carefully and meticulously put together following the instructions. Help is a phone call away, and I highly recommend watching every youtube video of assembly you can find BEFORE you start and familiarizing yourself with all the parts and steps beforehand (I went over the manual many times beforehand, this is way more difficult than IKEA for a regular person 🙂 ). Everything must be done in the exact order described. It was very helpful to have a couple of sets of sawhorses with plywood platforms to lay everything out on. Ladders were needed as well. We hired someone with construction experience to level the site (very important to have a level and straight/squared site/foundation so everything fits together well), our helper also built a wooden foundation and helped us with the assembly process. Having 3 people for frame assembly and two people for all the rest worked for us. Other helpful tricks: we used big suction cup grabber devices to help slide the panels into place. Having a shim to ease panels into their tight channels is helpful also. I think we also used silicone lubricant or soap or something to help panels slide into place. Assembly was moderately difficult but the outcome I think is well worth the input of time up front. I think this greenhouse will last my lifetime!
We put up a 9×14 Climapod this autumn. It is beautiful and has had no problems with high winds (which is part of the reason we chose it). It was brutal assembling it, but in the end we love it. Am growing all winter in it (unheated). If you get one, be sure to watch all the videos on YouTube for help. I am in zone 7a, New Mexico. The high desert.
…
UPD: I put up a greenhouse this autumn, and started considering how I would heat it this winter (I am in zone 7a). Then, I read a post where somebody recommended Eliot Coleman’s book, The Four Season Harvest. Eliot has been growing in Maine (brutally cold winters – I used to live there) for many, many years in hoophouses and cold frames and has NEVER heated anything. He harvests beautif veg all winter long. My eyes are now open and I realize I too can eat my fill of fresh veg all winter without having to heat my greenhouse. I honestly think everyone should at least read this book to see the possibilities.
So nice to come home to my greenhouse and spend a little time enjoying my plants. All of my tropicals that spent the summer on the deck and patio spend the winter in here. I am also growing spinach, lettuce, and basil in heated flats.
It is a 9x21 Climapod with a poured concrete floor, electric and water, with a small water heater and lit by LED grow lights.
ClimaPod makes fantastic and affordable greenhouses. The quality is spectacular and the customer service is excellent. We had great success using a referral contractor to install our greenhouse but I have also heard from other customers that they are easy to put together. I love looking in my backyard and seeing our ClimaPod and am already enjoying using it for my vegetable garden, hanging plants, and flowers. I would highly recommend ClimaPod products for anyone looking for a durable, economical greenhouse with a great customer service center.
Climapod Summers End Review 2
9х21 is a perfect size for us. Now we have squash 2 kinds, zucchini and yellow neck, 6 tomato plants of different varieties, beets, carrots, broccoli that I’ve already harvested n frozen up, 3 times around with radishes, 4 cucumbers, 3 varieties of peppers. And all the lettuce. Plus my flowers. It’s done very well.
Ohh forgot my candy onions!! That lil house is loaded with veggies. Ohh and spinach in the center isle! That had gone crazy. I’ve given bags of spinach away.
ClimaPod Virtue Review
It’s November, very rainy day. But I got good news to share – my greenhouse is up! I’m super happy about it, it looks great, it’s 9×14 feet.
It’s a lot better than having to bring the plants indoors… keeps the wife happy.
January 1st, winter storm in Seattle. ClimaPod Greenhouse is doing its job by keeping majority of the plants from frosting with no additional heat support! This is pretty rare for us to get snow here in Seattle but occasionally it does happen. I’m definitely glad that I got my greenhouse this year because I get the extra protection here for my figs.
We have owned one of these for two years and are very pleased overall. Setting up was a little tricky at first, but went smoothly. One tip we discovered is to use large suction cups, usually used for tile, to install the panels. We did a lot of research prior to purchase and decided to go with the Climapod. It is an excellent small greenhouse. The only thing I would do different would be to install 2 more solar fans. We had some problems with 70 mph winds but nothing serious. One nice perk is the help and service online or by phone is excellent. We’re are seriously considering buying another.
Five stars!
I bought this exact greenhouse 6 months ago. It turned out great! It’s very solid and the directions were easy to follow.
I bought the 9×14 greenhouse last year complete with shelves, solar exhaust fans, and hydraulic window lifts. It was great the first year. We only lost a couple plants up close to the doors. This year our children have brought their outdoor plants over, so I’m looking at getting another one to match. Harder to put together than I first anticipated, but I forget about that in the winter when the plants are thriving. it is nice to be inside smelling plants when the freezing rain is coming down. I love it.
High-Quality Greenhouse
We purchased the greenhouse in May after extensive research on what was available out there. The greenhouse is in northeast WA and withstood over 70 mile an hour winds over 2 days without any damage. It also held up fine with quite a bit of snowfall and extremely cold temps. I did remove the snow from the roof, as needed. Due to an unexpected illness, we needed to have the greenhouse assembled and the folks at Climapod arranged all of that for us. I have had a few questions about moving shelves and e-mail response is quick and always helpful. With a small radiant heater, I began using the greenhouse in March this year and started many flowers for my yard and peas are beginning to flower. We added grow boxes to the floor and were pleased to have an extremely long season of vegetables and mini melons. I recommend this product highly.
Could not be happier with this product!
I absolutely recommend this greenhouse. It’s always a challenge to buy unique things online and not knowing what kind of quality (most of the time.. junk) you will get. The quality of this greenhouse is great! Everything fits as it should. No missing parts (I have built three greenhouses now and this has been the first without missing parts) and very good instructions to follow.
Sturdy and Good Quality
Impressed with the quality and strength! As my brother and brother in law helped me assemble it they commented on its durability. The pieces fit well together. The only suggestion I have is when you assemble the back make sure the top section panels are started aligned. Very pleased with this purchase! The guys in Issaquah, WA were very helpful, and available, if needing help in the assembly.
By FAR the best bang for the buck!
We have lived with our Climapod since last growing season. Here in Montana, we have high winds nearly all the time, and a very heavy snow season this year. Thought we were out of that 10 days ago but now it dumped on us again in April! That Global Warming is really NOT heating up our winters. Anyway, even with the very heavy snowfall and winds, so far the Climapod product has shown no signs of wear or damage. There were a few days last August during biblical summer storms complete with hail where I literally stood by the back window watching the 70+mph winds shaking and twisting those four open roof vents so badly that I thought they would surely be torn off and relocated somewhere in Wyoming, or at the very least never close again. To my utter and absolute surprise, all four vents remained 100% intact and still work fine even after being open and exposed to our high wind winter days, all winter now. Although I wish I had an easy way to close them down during that kind of weather.
Although NOT as easy to assemble as the videos may appear to show, the learning curve is really not that steep once you get going. In the end, the design is very stout and great looking when finished, and our plants never grew so fast and remained virtually undamaged. For years we used our homes large deck to grow all plants due to the heavy plant-preditor problems we have in MT, even then, the deer would come on the deck and eat it all down. Last year the deer and the rabbits stood outside the Climapod looking in. Best investment in our sustainability yet.
As of last week, upon my off-season inspection, the only issue I found was that two of the Auto-opening pistons for the roof windows came loose and dropped their bolts and washers on the floor due to the constant winds shaking the open windows during all sunny days. Yes, even during our below 30-deg days here, the Climapod interior was over 70 degrees many times which caused the vent windows to open. The issue was easily fixed. My suggestion to all Climapod owners would be to add a drop of “Loctite” thread lock to the lower bolts on those Automatic-opening arms. I added a picture here showing which parts came loose.
I just found out that Climapod is about to start offering 7-foot extension kits! This is great news since we already wanted to add another 14-foot or more. Now, these extension kits will allow us to utilize all the ground we previously designated for this project and give us the time to add those sections incrementally out to 28ft for less $$ than another 9×14 kit.
Customer service with Ilia, who I believe is the owner, has always been great. And yes, obviously we would buy again from Climapod.
Climapod Virtue Complete Kit
This is our ClimaPod Virtue 🙂 It is facing north, the louver make sit cooler plus the solar fans.
I mostly have succulents and cactus and some carnivorous plants. We had some 50MPH wind last week and it survived fine, one trees in front of my house did not. It was so strong that I found my sneakers in the yard from my deck.
Very happy with it!
I purchased and had assembled my Climapod last summer, too late to use in 2021, but I’m excited for the 2022 season! It weathered a northeastern winter with no major issues except for the doors coming off track. I called Climapod and chatted with Sergei. He’s sending the necessary parts ASAP.
I’m truly impressed with the customer service. The contractor who assembled the greenhouse called several times and was really impressed by Sergei’s recollection of parts and procedures and help and advice. He said, and I agree, that’s a truly quality product.
Meanwhile, my wife and I enjoyed using it for afternoon coffee/tea/Scotch breaks on sunny afternoons!
After spending months researching greenhouses I finally took the plunge on the Climapod Virtue and my only regret is not buying two. This greenhouse hands down is so much superior to the competition and the pricing for the value beats all competitors. Setup was really quite easy and my only suggestion is to follow the advice from Climapod and get two 4×8 sections fastened together as a work surface for assembly. This makes things so much easier. Also don’t forget to apply caulking to windows and doors before assembly. My girlfriend and I couldn’t be happier. Don’t hesitate, this is the one to get.
We secured the climapod virtue greenhouse (9 x 14) on a wood frame to protect from winds. I caulked all the seems. The inside flooring has a layer of gravel so it won’t be muddy during the rainy season. I also insulated the north side to reflect more heat. I set 3 large black plastic barrels under the shelves, filled them with water to help heat up the greenhouse. I installed an electrical outlet for a heater. This is the first year we sowed vegetable seeds in the greenhouse. Over 300 seeds were sowed in February, sprouted soon after! Everything is growing well. I open the doors and louvre window in the am when temperatures are over 68, the solar vents open when the temperature warms up, closes when it cools down.
I am happy we chose climapod and look forward to transplanting my seeds outdoors.
We are very pleased with the greenhouse
Once constructed, we are very pleased with the greenhouse. It is solid, looks good and does hold up well in the wind. Was a challenging to put together. When they say the pad needs to be perfectly level, believe them. We purchased for a community garden so fortunately had several volunteers to help. We were not clear on a couple of the instructions so we contacted the company’s technical rep who was very good at guiding us through the process including texting pictures and texts that provided additional guidance. We had one of the solar fans went out after 11 months and they were prompt in responding to the warranty and provided us with a new one free of charge.
Our first gardening season with our Climapod greenhouse
Our first gardening season with our Climapod greenhouse and we couldn’t be more pleased. Sales and customer service help was prompt and helpful. All in all, a very good experience and would certainly recommend to others looking for a fair priced and sturdy greenhouse. Thank you.
I just put together a Spirit 7×14 greenhouse for my wife. It took me several days to put it together. It has a lot of parts and they have to go together in a fairly precise order. All the pieces were there, all but two were labeled (and those were very obvious – the two extruded aluminum ridge rails). I ended up with a few extra bolts but not because I left them out. There are several different options for foundation attachment which take different bolts. And it was a good thing because one of them went flying off into the weeds at one point so it would have taken a metal detector to find it.
You have to pay close attention to the instructions or you’ll end up having to take stuff apart again. And did I say there are a lot of parts? This is not a kit for the mechanically faint-of-heart. But I kept noticing as I went along how much thought has gone into it’s design. It’s not simple, but when it’s finished it’s strong and looks really good.
An extra drawing showing how the two plates tying the two modules together at the base need to be in place ahead of time would have been nice. And there’s a pair of holes in two uprights where only one was needed, so of course, by Murphy’s Law I picked the wrong ones and later on had to back that out and fix it (use the upper ones)...
I purchased my ClimaPod Virtue 9’x14′ back in 2018 and have loved every minute of it. I call it my favorite room in the house. It has sustained 80 mph winds that lasted over 12 hours in 2019. Last week we had tennis ball sized hail and aside from one small crack in one of the panels, it held up amazing. I would recommend this greenhouse over and over and over again. If I move, I can promise I will definitely buy another. Well worth the money I spent on it.
Bought this greenhouse for my wife for Christmas, just finished it. It is not the most user friendly to put together, but if you preserver it comes out in the end. I ordered the full meal deal and must say that the shelves and solar vents are a big plus. Near as I can tell, this is a great deal.

Bought a greenhouse from them and it was super easy to assemble and looks great in the yard! HIGHLY Recommended.
After 1 full year, and a harsh Whidbey fall and winter full of wind, I’m impressed! Very happy with this purchase and have had no issues. Stood up to a couple 50mph+ windstorms this past summer/fall just fine. Definitely would buy again! Thanks!
(Note: be ready for a complex assembly though. Not hard, but a 2-man job at times. Also, be sure to read ahead in the directions to get an idea of where certain parts need to be installed. Directions could use some improving, but that’s my only complaint)
